#NOTALONE
A head shatters like glass, a dark cloud looms overhead, scales stand watch by the fridge, and every old photograph stings with the ache of fading memories.
On behalf of Self-Help Rhineland-Palatinate (Selbsthilfe Rheinland-Pfalz, LAG KISS), we developed a campaign centered on the hashtag #nichtallein (#notalone), focusing on a wide range of medical and psychological conditions. The goal is to raise awareness for the diversity of mental and physical burdens while providing low-threshold access to support services. The focus is not merely on diagnoses, but on the lived experiences of those affected—experiences that often remain hidden and invisible in everyday life. The campaign employs a clean, minimalist visual language and emotional narratives that make the internal states of individuals relatable without oversimplifying or stigmatizing them. Various motifs capture typical yet deeply personal daily situations—from the struggle with internal listlessness and managing chronic illness to the challenges of social withdrawal. These scenes are unified by the hashtag #nichtallein, which serves as a connecting element to make both digital and analog communities visible.
A central objective of the initiative is to encourage people to join existing self-help groups or found their own. Sharing challenges, setbacks, and coping strategies is designed to help break the cycle of isolation and develop new perspectives. Here, self-help is not viewed as a last resort, but as an active, solidary process that offers stability and guidance.
By bridging emotional resonance with societal relevance and concrete paths to action, the campaign creates a space that promotes openness and dismantles stigma. The ultimate aim is to make it clear: suffering is not a solitary fate, and support is often closer than it first appears.
