In 2022, two opposites decided to join forces. Tobias Lischka and Jan Fabi founded DUAD STUDIOS—not despite their differences, but because of them.

The two met as a director-cinematographer duo at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. Tobias was always the one charging ahead: vision in mind, pitch deck in hand—already halfway into the next client meeting. Brand presence, sales, creative gambles—if he caught wind of an opportunity, he was already in the thick of it.

Jan, on the other hand, is about more than just being behind the lens; he manages spreadsheets with clockwork precision. He’s the architect of the workflow, ensuring that creative flights of fancy don't end in crash landings.

The idea of starting their own company didn’t happen overnight. Tobias had to win Jan over—and that was a production in itself. After six successful projects, Jan asked dryly: "Why should a cinematographer start a production company?" Tobias’s answer, more or less: "Why the hell not?"

Their contrasting personalities aren’t a hurdle; they’re an amplifier. Where one hits the gas, the other knows exactly when to tap the brakes. Where one doubts, the other motivates. Creativity needs guts—and a grid. Vision needs a stage—and a foundation.

Or to put it another way: the best balance is often found when two extremes decide to share the dance floor.
